Suspected Harasser Inquired: 'But Imagine I Could Be Madeleine?'

A female accused with pursuing Kate McCann reportedly deposited her a voicemail message which asked: "imagine I am Madeleine?"

The defendant, twenty-four, who a jury heard has repeatedly asserted she was the missing Madeleine McCann, and Karen Spragg are standing trial accused with pursuing Kate and Gerry McCann between June 2022 and February this year.

On Monday, Leicester Crown Court learned call records and evidence recovered from phones documented Ms Wandelt persistently asking Madeleine's mother for a genetic test over 2023 and 2024.

Madeleine's vanishing in 2007 - as a three-year-old during a vacation in Portugal - is among the most publicized investigations and remains unsolved.

'I Do Not Need Money'

Another recorded message, played in court, captured Ms Wandelt stating: "I understand I'm overweight and unattractive like Madeleine was, but I know what I feel."

While a separate message of Ms Wandelt's one-way conversations with Mrs McCann's voicemail stated: "Suppose there is a small chance that I'm her? Then what? Wouldn't that be crucial for you?"

"I do not need money, I have a existence here in Poland, I just want to discover," the recording stated.

The panel was informed that by means of emails, mobile messages and communications, Ms Wandelt asked for a DNA test, forwarded childhood photos to her phone in a bid to demonstrate a resemblance to Mrs McCann's disappeared daughter, and stated to have "memories" from a youth with the McCanns.

The investigator, an investigator with the police force who compiled the data, informed the court there "showed no any replies" from Mrs McCann.

Ms Wandelt furthermore communicated with acquaintances of the McCanns, according to the communication logs.

On October 9th, 2024, Gerry McCann picked up a call from Ms Wandelt to his wife's phone, stating she had "the wrong phone."

During that incident Ms Wandelt left a voicemail on Mrs McCann's recording declaring "I won't give up and I intend to demonstrate my position."

The court learned Mrs Spragg developed a relationship through digital means with Ms Wandelt before accompanying her on a trip to the McCanns' property in the county in that winter.

Call logs demonstrated Mrs Spragg had reached out through messaging service to Mrs McCann to express the news outlets had portrayed Ms Wandelt as "emotionally disturbed" but that she ought to be considered genuine in the months preceding the visit to that location, that area, in December 2024.

The court was told message exchanges between the two accused, in that autumn, considering trying to obtain Mrs McCann's genetic material from her garbage or from silverware at a eating establishment.
