Disturbing Video Captures Instant Law Enforcement Are Stabbed in Unexpected Assault
A ranking policeman who jumped to the assistance of a partner who was ambushed by a blade-wielder was granted the Monarch's Honor for Valor.
Sergeant Tim Ansell grappled with twenty-seven-year-old Jacob Brown following he placed a weapon to the neck of his colleague Sgt Marc Foster.
Brown began the violence as the law enforcement personnel and their partner, Police Constable Marcus Wolstencroft, were talking to a motorist after a road collision in the area in summer 2023.
Brown attacked with blade both Sgt Ansell and Sgt Foster prior to Police Constable Wolstencroft incapacitated him with a stun gun.
"Policeman attacked," PC Wolstencroft stated over his radio.
Bodyworn and dashboard camera footage shared by the agency depicted Brown, that was clothed in dark clothing with a hood covering head, run up to Sergeant Foster from behind with a blade pointed forward.
He struck the officer who tripped and fell to the street, before Sgt Ansell intervened and attempted to subdue him to the pavement despite being continually attacked with the knife.
Police Constable Wolstencroft deployed his electric weapon and awaited a safe opportunity, ending the confrontation to an finish.
Sgt Ansell can be heard to say: "I need help on my neck now, I'm bleeding in the neck."
Sgt Ansell received multiple open wounds to his neck and additional cuts to his arms and body, while Sergeant Foster received slash wounds.
The department reported Sgt Foster employed his hands to control his partner's hemorrhaging prior to emergency responders reached the scene.
The latest award follows after the law enforcement team received internal Bravery Awards in fall 2023 and the prestigious bravery honor from the area officer association in April 2024.
They further earned a Regional Courage Honor in summer 2024.
"The actions of each policeman ultimately rescued each other and meant no bystanders suffered any wounds."
Brown was sentenced to an indefinite hospital order in spring 2024, as stated by the department.
