British boxer Anthony Joshua Discharged from Hospital in Nigeria Following Deadly Car Crash
Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has left the medical facility, local government spokespeople announced on late Wednesday. The fighter was part of a serious road collision outside Lagos on December 29th, a horrific crash that took the lives of two of his close associates.
Recovering from Minor Injuries
The boxer had been receiving medical attention while recovering from minor injuries, representatives confirmed on Monday. A government official, Gbenga Omotoso, said in a statement on social media that Joshua was judged healthy enough to leave and heal privately.
“Joshua and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to offer their condolences to his two friends who passed away as they were being readied to be sent home,” Omotosho said.
Honoring the Deceased
The two men who died were confirmed to be Latif Ayodele, a fitness coach, and Sina Ghami, a strength and conditioning coach. Omotoso added that the athlete was heartbroken and overcome with emotion over the passing of his two dear friends.”
His release from the hospital comes as the global fight fans had expressed its support for the champion in the wake of the terrible crash.
